It was my dream since I started reading Harry Potter that I wanted a wand. I started reading J.K.Rowling’s masterpiece when I was in grade 7, and I am a very huge fan of Hermione. I knew from my friends that you could get Harry Potter character wands at the Harry Potter World in the US. So when my aunt who lives in the US asked me what I wanted when she would come to India for vacation, I asked her for Hermione Granger’s wand. It was only then that I knew that you could get different types of wands in the Harry Potter World. There are interactive wands, character wands and even wands that choose you, because “The wand chooses the wizard” right?
Interactive wands are those which actually perform small spells like Lumos, Aberto, Ventus and Alohomora. But these work only in the Harry Potter World and not anywhere else.
Character wands are the copies of the major characters’ wands of the story like Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Snape, McGonagall, Voldemort and so on. These look exactly like the ones they’ve shown in the movies.
The wands that choose you are special. The person there asks you a few questions and the wand is selected according to your answers. Thus, you can have your own wand which chose you!!
Along with the interactive and ‘choosing wands’ come the guide on how to use the wand for different spells. There is a unique wand movement for each spell! But since I got the character wand, it wasn’t there in my box. These are the wand movements for the major spells.
This is my wand and it’s a character wand of Hermione Granger. I’m so happy that I got it at last!
